Eyelid surgery
Drooping of the eyelids (Dermatochalasis)
Over time, the skin on the upper eyelids may become loose, leading to a shadow in the upper part of the face. Blepharoplasty involves tightening the upper eyelids by removing excess skin. I offer this surgery in my practice.
Turning in of the eyelid (entropion)
By turning in of the lower lid, the eyelashes rub against the cornea and cause severe pain. Eyelashes can be easily epilated, but surgical intervention is necessary in most cases.
Turning out of the eyelid (ectropion)
Protrusion of the lower eyelids can cause reddening and irritation of the conjunctiva. A special eyelid lift can significantly improve the position of the lower eyelid and the symptoms.
Droopy eyelid (ptosis)
If your upper eyelid suddenly hangs lower, this can have many causes and requires clarification. Depending on the cause, there are different therapeutic approaches.
Chalazion
A chalazion is a clogged sebum gland that becomes swollen and inflamed. In some cases, surgical intervention is necessary.
Stye (Hordeolum)
In some cases, a sebaceous gland on the edge of the eyelid becomes infected and swollen. Most cases can be treated with an ointment, but surgery is sometimes necessary.
Warts (fibromas)
These are harmless growths on the eyelid and can be surgically removed.
Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) and other carcinomas
Some patients may develop cancer of the lid margin. These are surgically removed and the eyelid reconstructed.
