Cataract

Cataracts are a common age-related condition that can lead to a gradual clouding of the eye's natural lens, resulting in a deterioration in vision.

To treat cataracts, the cloudy lens is surgically removed and replaced with a clear artificial lens. This procedure is typically performed as a day surgery using anesthetic drops. In most cases, patients do not require hospitalization, although some may require general anesthesia. Additionally, cataract surgery can be performed in combination with other eye surgeries, such as those for glaucoma or retina conditions.

As a specialist in eye surgery, I perform cataract surgery at the renowned St John of God Hospital in Vienna. If you are experiencing poor vision due to cataracts, don't hesitate to schedule an appointment with me. Together, we will explore the various treatment options available and determine the best course of action for your individual needs.

Whether you opt for cataract surgery or other vision correction procedures, I am committed to providing personalized care and support to help you achieve optimal eye health and vision.

Intraocular lenses (IOL)

Monofocal IOL

The single vision lens is a very good solution for most patients and can be adjusted for distance or near. Glasses will still be necessary for near or far vision in most cases.

Toric IOL

The toric lens corrects astigmatism. The lens is rotated into the correct position during the operation.

EDOF IOL

Enhanced Depth of Focus (EDOF) are lenses with an extended depth of field, which reproduces the light sharper with smooth transitions even in the intermediate area and sometimes in the near range.

Multifocal IOL

Multifocal lenses not only focus the light in the distance, but also in the screen and reading area. With an optimal setting, freedom from glasses can be achieved, but suitable patients must be carefully selected in order to avoid intolerance.
